| The shop is owned and operated by Dawn Manning. She is also the instructor for the classes that Dawn's High Desert Divers offers. We have been in business for several years now and are the only dive shop between Salt Lake City, Utah and Reno, Nevada. As such we offer a unique opportunity to the people of Northern Nevada. When told that we operate in Elko, Nevada, most people respond "Where do you dive?". Our classes start in the Elko Municipal Pool and our final class sessions are held at Blue Lakes. Blue Lakes is about 20 miles south of Wendover (which is right on the border of Nevada and Utah). For other places we have dived locally go to local dive locations. We are a PADI Dive Center and full service repair shop. Every year we make two trips to various places in the world. The first one is usually taken around February or March and the second one about July or August. To learn more about these trips go to dive trips. As well as being a service center we also are dealerships for many popular brands of scuba equipment, for more info go to gear. To keep up in the industry we send our instructor to DEMA (Dive Equipment and Merchandising Association), so that she can find the newest and best equipment to add to our sales floor. |

Our Location 546 South 5th Steet Elko, Nevada 89801 (775) 777-3483 Take exit 303 on I-80 If going east bound take a right off of the ramp or if going west bound take a left off of the ramp. You will hit a light at Idaho Street -Take a right. Stay on Idaho Street til you come to 5th street - Take a left. Cross the bridge and go through the light. | Open Water
Diver Here is where the adventure begins. The door to the wonderful under water world opens. There is nothing quite like the first breath you take under water. In the open water class you will learn all of the basic skills that you will need to be a safe and proficient scuba diver. The class consists of 5 classroom sessions with 4 quizzes and 1 50 question final. You will spend approximately 6-8 hours in the swimming pool learning the skills as you progress from one to the next. Then we spend a weekend at the lake and do 2 dives on Saturday and 2 dives on Sunday doing each of the skills that you learned in confined water. This is the Open Water final. When this is completed, you are an open water diver ready to begin diving an continue learning. Cost: $375.00 Covers everything except your personal gear. Mask, fins, snorkel, and boots must be purchased before the end of the class. All students receive a 15% discount on all purchases while in class. class list |
